How do members get information?
We have around 200 members who receive updates and a quarterly newsletter
by email.
How does the group work?
Any member of the group can offer to lead a walk with details published
in the newsletter. We have a social event just before each newsletter
when members can volunteer to lead walks during the next quarter, although
anyone can contact the walks organiser in advance to lead a walk. We can organise walks
at short notice and notify members of cancellations (via email).
How do I join a walk?
Contact the walk leader directly - they will send their details with their email. They will let you know all travel
details, where and what time to meet, walk details and lunch arrangements.
If you change your mind about going, or miss the train, please try and
let the walk leader know if you can.
How long are the walks?
Most walks tend to be between five to ten miles. Occasionally on a long
walk there will be an optional short cut; check first with the walk leader
if the length of the walk sounds a bit daunting - but generally once you
get going, it doesn't seem that far.
How many women go on the walks?
There's usually between eight and twenty women on each walk. The group
is very friendly and most women come along on their own.
Do I need special equipment?
You don't need any special equipment; in winter, walking boots are advisable,
but trainers are generally fine during the summer.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are very welcome to join walks, although you may need to keep them
on a lead if there are animals about. Do mention it to the walk leader
if you will be bringing a dog.
